Cyril’s Edge – 09 December 2021

It’s time for our weekly look at the soccer action coming up – let me know what you think of my predictions!

Brentford vs Watford
Battle of the Bees and Hornets. Brentford has won one of their last eight PL games. Watford has lost their last three games since their big win against United. This clash is set to be a six-pointer for both bosses. Ivan Toney will be a big miss for the Bees after he tested positive. This will award Bryan Mbeumo a chance to sparkle in front of the goal. Watford will look to Ismaila Sarr to find the back of the net. A tight game indeed, but Brentford will get the WIN

Man City vs Wolves
Wolves were impressive but unfortunate not to get anything against Liverpool. City’s midweek loss in the UCL will ensure Pep Guardiola avoids a consecutive defeat. We can expect a fight from the visitors especially with the threat of Traore. The Citizens wouldn’t want to risk their top spot so they should pick up the three points with ease. City Win and OVER 2.5 GOALS

Chelsea vs Leeds
The Blues have shown they’re not invincible by any means after they were humbled by West Ham. Bamford’s late equaliser against Brentford should give them confidence heading into this clash. As much as it’s exciting to watch the high-energy Murderball of Marcela Bielsa. The results need to start coming in for Leeds. They could see themselves in a basement battle at the business end of the season. It will be interesting to watch this game from a neutral perspective. Chelsea will win but BOTH TEAMS TO SCORE

Norwich vs Man United
The era of Ragnick is going well thus far. It looks like it could be a 3rd straight win for the Red Devils unless the Canaries can pull off a masterclass at Carrow Road. An unlikely victory could see Norwich jump out of the drop zone. This will need a mountain of work if United are on their new ‘High-Press’ regime. A point from this game will be a bonus for the hosts. I see one result only. A WIN for United with a Clean Sheet

Burnley vs West Ham
The visitors have been on a good run of form recently. This is the ideal time to face the Serie A leaders. Atalanta always has a goal in them, and they will find the back Sean Dyche’s Clarets need to get a move on soon. As we approach the halfway mark of the season, Burnley is struggling and needs points right now. The Hammers are looking untouchable and playing with loads of confidence and momentum. A win for them will see them remain in that top four zone, with a possible cushion ahead of Spurs. Burnley will be hard as always to break down at home, but West Ham should be able to get WIN

The Madrid Derby
Atletico will carry momentum from their midweek win over Porto. Real are looking great at this point and are favourite to secure the three points and bragging rights. Karim Benzema is on fire. It will always be difficult to break down Diego Simeone’s team, who are always defensively sound. This will be an awesome watch for the neutrals, but the WIN and bragging rights will go to Los Blancos
