It’s time for a look at the Boxing Day soccer action coming up – let me know what you think of my predictions!
Liverpool vs Leeds
Liverpool can go top of the table for a short while if they can secure the win. There haven’t been any festive cheers for Leeds. Marcela Bielsa’s troops have been shipping in goals and this needs to stop. If they don’t show any composure at the back, Liverpool will provide a proper Boxing Dak knockout. Difficult for the Whites to get anything out of their visit to Anfield. I see nothing but a comfortable Reds victory. BOTH TEAMS TO SCORE. YES
Wolves vs Watford
Wanderers had three tough games (Man City, Liverpool & Chelsea), but played some good football. Unfortunately, they were only able to secure a point at Stamford Bridge. They’ve lacked in their attacking prowess but tightened up at the back. Watford’s big win over Man United is a distant memory. Despite Claudio Ranieri’s appointment, they’ve conceded the 4th highest goals in the EPL. 21 of those goals coming in the Italian’s 9 games at the helm. The Hornets will struggle, and the hosts will nick this one. WOLVES TO WIN
Man City vs Leicester
The Bees earned some extra rest time after their midweek clash with Man United was postponed. Thomas Franck wasn’t too pleased with the outcome, but he would’ve used the time for extra preparation for an already struggling Southampton. Ralph Hassenhutl is aware of the Saints log position. This is a must-win for the home team. Che Adams needs to keep firing and he will be instrumental. The Saints to WIN & BOTH TEAMS TO SCORE.
Tottenham vs Crystal Palace
The fruition of Antonio Conte’s work began to show in Spurs clash against Liverpool. Spurs fans will be expecting their team to win on Boxing Day against The Eagles. Patrick Vieira has done well since his arrival. A win this weekend would take his side to within 3pts of Spurs. Plenty for both teams to play for in this one. The quality up front will be a tad bit too much for Palace. SPURS WIN OVER 2.5 GOALS.
Norwich vs Arsenal
The Gunners are on a decent run of form with four consecutive wins in all competitions. We shouldn’t get too carried away with this, but Gabriel Martinelli is on fire. Despite a positive start under Dean Smith, the League’s bottom side is now without a win in five matches. Losing the last three and scoring once during that span. Arsenal will have more quality on show and should do enough to secure the win. ARSENAL WIN UNDER 3.5 GOALS.
Aston Villa vs Chelsea
Chelsea is starting to feel the Blues after a tremendous start to the season. They’re struggling to find goals and conceded more than what’s expected of them. This could be the ideal game for new boss Steven Gerrard to make a statement since his arrival. The Villains have been making steady progress and realizing the immense potential within their squad. This will be a tricky encounter for Thomas Tuchel, but Chelsea to win a tight game. CORRECT SCORE 2-1.
Newcastle vs Man United
As Boxing Day boils over into Monday. We have one big clash at St James Park. Newcastle will need to dig deep for Eddie Howe and attempt to get a win over a mystery United team. The Red Devils previous two games were postponed due to covid issues. It’s going to be a tough outing for Ralf Ragnick. The Magpies can get something out of this if they don’t concede first. Despite that, United should be able to grind out a narrow win. MAN UNITED TO WIN UNDER 3.5 GOALS.
