Cyril’s Edge – 22 April 2022

Another big weekend of Premier League action to look forward to – here’s my take on how the action will unfold!

Arsenal vs Man United
This has been a devastating week for United following the Anfield humiliation. But the Red Devils announced the signing of new manager Erik Ten Hag from Ajax. The positive news will give the United players some much-needed motivation for their trip to North London. The Gunners are on a high after their big win at Stamford Bridge. This clash has always produced fireworks. United will need to claim three points here to keep their UCL hopes alive. No word on Ronaldo returning for action. Arsenal is in form and exuding confidence. They will make life difficult for the Red Devils. Arsenal to win

Brentford vs Tottenham
The Bees are buzzing and aiming for a top ten finish to the season. The inclusion of miracle man Christian Eriksen has given Brentford an injection of confidence. They could be the reason why Spurs fail to make the top four this season. Tottenham’s loss to the Seagulls last week saw the gap closed. Three points this weekend is non-negotiable for Antonio Conte’s men before he blames himself again! Harry Kane and Heung Min Son will once again be the major threat for Spurs. Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo has been influential of late. He notched up one goal and four assists across their last four PL outings. This should be an exciting game, but I’m going with Spurs to win UNDER 4.5 GOALS

Man City vs Watford
During the week, City had to dig deep in the second half to secure a 3-0 win over Brighton. The victory allowed them to leapfrog Liverpool and reclaim their one-point lead at the top. The title is City’s to lose, and they will treat the remaining six EPL games like cup finals. The Hornets can sense the end is near. They’re still not out of it as nothing is set in stone. Roy Hodgson will provide his lads with all his wisdom and experience to give it their best shot at survival. Hornets’ fans will hope that Ismailia Sarr grabs a goal, as they haven’t lost a game when he’s scored. This unfortunately will be a mountain too high to climb for Watford. Comfortable win for Man City OVER 2.5 GOALS

Chelsea vs West Ham
Chelsea was stunned by the Gunners in their midweek clash. This has opened the door for the chasing clubs to jump them. Thomas Tuchel blamed the pitch while Arsenal preyed on some patchy defending to expose the Blues. This is something that West Ham will be aiming to do as well. The Hammers are also fighting for that coveted fourth spot. Chelsea will buckle up and come out all guns blazing. But West Ham will know that they can leave the Bridge with more than a point. David Moyes will need to keep his troops on their toes, ready to snatch all points. Chelsea will win OVER 2.5 GOALS

Liverpool vs Everton
Little hope is given to the Toffees after seeing Liverpool destroy Man United. This is of course the Merseyside Derby, and the form goes out the window. Passion and desire for bragging rights come to the forefront. But there’s more at stake with the Reds hunting down City, ready to pounce on any slip-up. Everton, for the first time, is in a relegation scrap and fighting for survival. As neutrals, we’re in for a football treat. Liverpool’s quest for the quadruple is taking shape. Everton and Frank Lampard are dancing with danger. Anything is possible but difficult to see the visitors leave with something. Liverpool will secure the win with ease
